In August 2006 I had a stroke which ended up with aphasia, appraxia and dysathria. Now that I have almost recovered, I want to share my experience with fellow stroke survivors, their caregivers and the medical community. My blog is about day by day account of what happened with me. And various treatments of Aphasia, Apraxia, Dysarthria that went well.

I found your blog after reading the Newsweek piece. Great piece of writing, hope things keep getting better for you.
My daughter sent me the link to your story. I am touched and inspired. You are doing so well! Sending you thoughts of happiness and healing. = )
Congratulations Banu! Don't forget to get the creative commons license for your blog entries - http://creativecommons.org/
Love, your paranoid friend Zeynep (ps. Arda & Tunca say they'd love to meet Kaan soon - I told Tunca that they're only a few weeks apart, so when you come & visit give us a call!)
Posting on behalf of Richard:
Banu: Your article is extraordinary, especially in light of the often
devastating nature of aphasia.
I would like to learn more about your journey - what worked, what did not,
what was most useful.
I am associated with a newly formed nonprofit with the mission of
establishing "life participation" aphasia centers around
the country adopting best practices from the most successful programs. Your
input would be wonderful. I can be reached at
rcole@nationalaphasiacenters.org. I look forward to hearing from you. Best
regards, Richard M. Cole
What an inspiration you are!
Congratulations! I look forward to reading this and then typing it out in a way my aphasiac mother (55 years old) can read it.
Banu: Please e-mail me at ariadnemontalvo@hotmail.com please. Have a situation with my brother. He had a stroke 1 year ago. He is 40 and has 4 children. Please help understand.
Thanks.
I'm in a Neuropsychology course at Boston University, and I happened to stumble upon your article while looking for the cookie theft picture. I have learned so much from reading your blogs. Thank you so much. Truly. Please, do appreciate your progress and how much you've taught others. Thank you (:
God bless.
